Facebook Connect Posted by Calix on 21 Apr 2010 15:18
OK, you may or may not see a facebook connect button floating around the forums (by floating, I mean in different areas of the forums, not actual floating), this is not currently working. There are a couple of FBConnect mods for phpBB but none are truly working, especially with FB's ever changing architecture, so I am working on creating my own from scratch. Currently, I'm just testing what info is returned from FB so I can determine how to apply it to our needs.

Eventually, I'm hoping to have your forum and FB account completely linked. This includes your friends list and possibly a chat bar at the bottom of the forums. I also want to link the forum announcements with the Burningstorm Studios page on FB (I don't feel like opening FB to find a link right now, just search "burningstorm studios").

Anyway, right now, the connect button doesn't work at all. It does open a pop-up to login to facebook and allow the connection, but it doesn't do anything else. So just ignore it.

Note, by no means do you actually have to use FBConnect on the forums. There is no advantage or disadvantage to using or not using it. It is simply there as a convenience. In the future, this may or may not be built into BSGame. It would sure make creating accounts a lot simpler on both parts.

Spam Control Posted by Calix on 01 May 2009 20:19
Effective immediately, all users with a post count under 10 are now subject to a VERY limited account. This goes for all users, new and old.

  • You must have your post approved by any developer or higher level user on this board. Your message will not appear until it has been approved, do NOT make a new similar reply because you cannot see your post.
  • You cannot create new topics on any subforum besides, General and Offtopic, all other boards restrict you to replies only.
  • You signature will not be seen anywhere.
  • Your website link will be hidden from all users.
  • Even though you are on a moderation queue, you are still subject to ALL rules and will be banned if any are broken.

Once your post count passes the 10 marker, you will automatically be upgraded and have access to all features on this board.

In addition, an anti-spam mod has also been added to the forums.

Site Offline Posted by Calix on 04 Oct 2008 16:48
I apologize for this, starting next week, the site may be offline indefinitely. I am awaiting a letter from PayPal so that I can unlimit my account, but until then, the webhost will have a freeze on our account until we renew payment. As soon as I receive the letter, I can renew payment immediately, and since the host is already processing the transaction, I cannot simply use a creditcard over PayPal, nor can I ask any other admin to pay and I'll just repay them. So, if the site goes offline, we'll just have to wait until I receive my letter.

During this time, a backup site will be put online at http://ww2.mushroomgames.com:8080/forum/ but it will not be up until this site is offline.

[EDIT] Since this is front page news. I thought it needed that, this is now no longer true. Please click the comments link for more info.

Logo Posted by DJPieSlice on 01 Sep 2008 17:37
Ok, I started working on our logo. I decided to make the logo based on the whole studio, not the game. This state is just temporary until we get some basic concept of the game.

Please tell me if you think anything looks weird.

Here is my first try:

My first try.

Homepage news Posted by Calix on 21 Aug 2008 19:57
Well, I've stated before that I hated how plain the news looked on the new layout and due to that fact, I decided to spruce up the news layout a little bit. For one, I added avatars to the post (so any admin who posts a news topic that does have an avatar will be clearly distinguishable on the homepage). Second, I changed up the layout a little.

So what do you think? Better or worse? Any additional changes needed (ignoring the archives, I'm still working on that)?

PS. I did forget to mention, I'm back in town. So....I'm back! I didn't win very much this trip though. Only came home $15 richer.
